What are the symptoms of CLL?

Many people with CLL do not have any symptoms when it is diagnosed. CLL is not easy to spot at first because it is a slow-growing cancer of blood cells. Sometimes, it is found during a routine checkup or when a blood test is ordered for an unrelated health issue. Symptoms usually begin once the disease progresses and can include:

  • Feeling tired
  • Weakness
  • Fever
  • Night sweats
  • Shortness of breath
  • Swollen lymph nodes (may be felt as lumps under the skin) or spleen (may feel like fullness in the belly)
  • Repeated infections
  • Weight loss for no reason
  • Leukopenia
  • Neutropenia
  • Anemia
  • Thrombocytopenia
